Botswana is a country with GDP of some US$ 10.4 billion (PPP) for population
of only 15,86,119. It is vastly different from rest of Africa in terms of per
capita income, political stability, foreign exchange reserves and trade balance.
Except in terms of social indicators like life expectancy, lowered by HIV infection,
it ranks among the highest income country in the developing world. As a result,
the country has attracted investments from Europe, Asia & Africa including India.
It is, however, a small market dominated by South Africa. Export of goods from India
is therefore limited. However, the country provides attractive opportunity for
investment and trade in services.

P.O. Box 3122, Gaborone. Other Government offices also provide financial and other
assistance for foreign investors if the investment is involved in manufacturing and
